The Texas men’s golf team shot a 273, 11-under par to take a one-stroke lead after the first round of the NCAA Regionals in Lubbock on Thursday.
Beau Hossler shot a 66, including seven birdies, to lead the No. 2 Longhorns. Kramer Hickok, Gavin Hall and Scottie Scheffler each shot 69 to tie for 13th place. Doug Ghim shot even par for the day to tie for 33rd.
The Longhorns lead Houston by a stroke while Duke trails Texas by three shots.
Austin Eoff of Purdue is the individual leader after shooting a six-under 65.
Texas tees off the second round at 9:15 a.m. on Friday morning with Houston and Duke.
