Texas men’s tennis falls to Georgia in Waco Regional

The Texas Longhorns men’s tennis team fell to the Georgia Bulldogs 4-1 at the NCAA Tennis Championships in Waco on Thursday.

Nick Wood defeated Nick Naumann 7-6, 7-5 to seal the win for the Bulldogs.

George Goldhoff was the only Longhorn to pull of a victory, defeating Ben Wagland 6-3, 6-4.


Georgia took the doubles point as Wayne Montgomery and Nathan Pasha defeated George Goldhoff and Jacoby Lewis 8-3 while Eric Diaz and Paul Oosterbaan defeated Nick Naumann and Michael Riechmann 8-4.

Pasha defeated Adrian Berkowicz 6-3, 6-2 before Austin Smith defeated Lloyd Glasspool 6-3, 7-6 (5) to give Georgia a 3-0 lead.

Soren Hess-Olesen was still on the court when the Bulldogs clinched, trailing 5-3 in the third set against Wayne Montgomery. Hess-Olesen took a second set tiebreaker 7-6 (6) to stay alive after losing the first set tiebreaker 6-7 (5). The ITA Texas Region Senior Player of the Year currently has a record of 103-38. He has the ninth most singles wins in Texas men’s tennis history.
