Texas 4, Baylor 3
Why Texas (28-25) won: Ty Culbreth was stout on the mound, giving Texas a complete game for the second day in a row. His only blemish was Mitch Price’s three-run homer in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Tres Barrera singled to left with the bases loaded for the walk-off win.
Culbreth was helped by Texas’ two-run second inning; Collin Shaw (sac fly) and Kacy Clemens (groundout) had the RBIs.
Why Baylor (22-31) lost: The Bears had two base runners in the first inning — both walks — but never again had more than one the rest of the way until the ninth. They finished with five hits.
Key stat: Texas has gone two games this tournament without using a relief pitcher. Parker French pitched a complete game in Friday’s 2-1 win over Texas Tech.
On deck: vs Baylor/Texas Tech, 9 a.m. Saturday, 1300, Fox College Sports.
