Texas won’t have to travel far to start the baseball postseason.
On Sunday, the NCAA announced the 16 schools who will host regionals. Among them are Dallas Baptist, Texas A&M and Houston. Texas, which won the Big 12 tournament title earlier in the day, is likely headed to one of those three destinations.
At 11 a.m. Monday, the 64-team field will be announced on ESPNU, and Texas will get its specific assignment for next weekend.
Big 12 regular season champion TCU will also host a regional, but Texas is unlikely to head to Fort Worth since both teams are from the same conference. Oklahoma State, which fell to the Longhorns in Sunday’s final, will also host a regional.
In last week’s Baseball America poll, A&M is ranked ninth, Dallas Baptist 11th, and Houston 14th. A&M (SEC) and Dallas Baptist (Missouri Valley) made it to the semifinals of their conference tournaments. Houston fell to East Carolina in the American Athletic title game.
