Incoming Texas softball freshman Reagan Hathaway (Lenexa, Kan.) hit a monster home run in Olathe Northwest’s 12-0 win over Wichita Northwest in the Kansas 6A semifinals at Rock Chalk Park at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Hathaway and Olathe Norwest lost to cross-town rival Olathe South 7-3 in the state championship game.
Here’s video of the home run:
The catcher is a 2014 first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) High School All-American and the 2014 Diamond Sports/NFCA National High School Catcher of the Year. In her junior season, Hathaway hit .759 with 11 doubles, six home runs, 36 RBIs and a 1.316 slugging percentage. She also broke eight different school records at Olathe Northwest in her first three years of high school.
Earlier this month, Hathaway broke a Kansas state softball home run record with 16 during the regular season.
Texas head coach Connie Clark said in November that she expects Hathaway to be “an impact player for us right away.”
