Ben Johnson said he had a dollar figure in mind. Apparently, the Kansas City Royals were able to reach it.
And the San Francisco Giants gave C.J Hinojosa an offer he couldn’t refuse, either.
Johnson and Hinojosa each tweeted that they will turn pro and not play their senior seasons at Texas. Both players were chosen in the 11th round of last week’s draft.
At regionals, Johnson told the American-Statesman that he had a dollar figure in mind and that he’d turn pro if a team met it.
Johnson was Texas’ top offensive player this season, ranking first or second in a slew of categories.
Hinojosa struggled at the plate this year, but has long been considered a big prospect.
Longhorns recruit Nolan Kingham, a right-hander from Las Vegas, told the American-Statesman that he will attend Texas and not sign with the Milwaukee Brewers, who took him in the 39th round.
