John Tyler wide receiver Damion Miller, who is ranked among the state’s top 2017 prospects, committed to Texas on Thursday.
The announcement was made on John Tyler’s football Twitter account.
Miller (6-2, 205) is a four-star prospect and the state’s No. 29 player, according to 247Sports’ composite ratings. He is the nation’s No. 41 receiver.
Millers held offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Houston, and Kansas.
Miller is the first recruit landed by new Longhorns assistant Jeff Traylor. Traylor, who coached 15 seasons at Gilmer in East Texas, oversees tight ends and special teams at Texas but was brought on staff due to his rich ties in the state.
Miller is Texas’ first 2017 commitment. Six players have committed in the 2016 class.
