According to multiple reports, Former Longhorns defensive back Eryon Barnett died over the weekend in a Bozemon, Mont. hospital.
An autopsy is expected to be completed Monday, according to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. Barnett’s brother, Chris Barnett, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Barnett had been in the hospital with pancreatitis.
Barnett, of Euless, redshirted his first season at Texas in 2009. In 2010, he participated in seven games, mostly on special teams. He missed the 2011 season with a knee injury and transferred to Montana State, where he played in 21 games over the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
As a sixth-year senior in 2014, Barnett missed part of fall camp with complications from pancreatitis and missed two games in November for the same reason. He finished with 37 tackles and two interceptions.
Barnett had recently graduated from Montana State.
We are saddened to hear of the passing of former #Longhorns CB Eryon Barnett. Thoughts & prayers to his family and friends.
