Texas places 299 student-athletes on Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll

Posted July 7th, 2015

More than half of Texas’ student athletes earned a 3.0 grade-point average in the spring semester and landed on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

In total, 299 of 537 Longhorns made the grade. That’s 55 percent.

Football led the way with 45 representatives, including David Ash, Nate Boyer, Taylor Doyle, Sedrick Flowers, Johnathan Gray and Dylan Haines.

Women’s track and field placed 37 on the list, followed by rowing (31), men’s track and field (29) and baseball (25).

Eight men’s basketball players were honored, including guards Isaiah Taylor and Kendal Yancy.

Last month, Texas president Gregory L. Fenves ordered a review of the student services at the university over allegations of academic misconduct involving three former Longhorn basketball players. Texas has hired Gene Marsh, former chairman of the NCAA committee on infractions, to lead the review.
