Vince Young and Fred Akers to be inducted into Texas’ hall of honor

Quarterback Vince Young and coach Fred Akers are among 13 former Texas student athletes and staff who will be inducted into the university’s athletics halls of honors.
The induction ceremony is set for Sept. 25, the day before the Longhorns football team hosts Oklahoma State.
Joining Young and Akers in the men’s hall of honor are Blake Brockermeyer (football, 1992-94); Brendan Hansen (swimming, 2001-04); Michael Huff (football, 2002-05; track & field, 2005); Larry Hardy (baseball, 1968-70), David Kristynik (football, 1959-61) and Randy Peschel (football, 1966-69; Baseball, 1968-69).
The women’s class consists of Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn (track & field, 1983-86); Destinee Hooker (volleyball, 2006-09; track & field, 2006-07, ’09); Debbie (Risen) Hurwitz (swimming, 1984-86, ’88); Charlotta Sorenstam (golf, 1992-93) and Tori (Trees) Smith (swimming, 1984-87).
