Texas has announced plans for its fan appreciation day, when the Longhorns will hold an open practice on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 9:45 a.m.-noon at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

This will likely be the only opportunity fans have to see UT practice before the season opener against Notre Dame on Sept. 5.

After the open practice session, players and coaches will be available for autographs in the north end zone starting at 1:30 p.m. UT personnel will take fan photos with coach Charlie Strong, and the pictures will be available later for free download.

All autographs and activities are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tackle leaving UT: Backup offensive tackle Camrhon Hughes is leaving the program, according to a report by Orangebloods. Strong was in Bristol, Conn., at ESPN headquarters for various appearances on Wednesday. A UT official traveling with Strong would not confirm the report.

The junior from Harker Heights started six games last season but fell on the depth chart this spring.
