Longhorn fans were thrown for a loop on Sunday when Andrew Lind of the Tidewater News tweeted that Texas might be opting for darker football jerseys this season.

Rumor had it that Nike would be outfitting nine of its schools in black jerseys for select games in 2015, according to Uni-Watch. Designs were released online of black T-shirt style jerseys for Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas.

However, Texas head coach Charlie Strong had already confirmed during Big 12 Media Days that the Longhorn jersey would not undergo any drastic changes in the near future.

Austin American-Statesman reporter Brian Davis confirmed through Twitter that alternate jerseys would not be happening this season.

As Uni-Watch also pointed out, the alternate designs resembled something a little closer to a T-shirt than a football jersey. This observation could come with a silver lining to fans of the black design – maybe we’ll see these bad boys available to Longhorn fans in the fall.
