Rapper Lil B shows Longhorns love on Twitter
Posted October 6th, 2015
While the rest of his teammates were in the midst of a Twitter war with each other, junior defensive end Bryce Cottrell sought the help of the self-proclaimed “Based God.”
Rapper Lil B, largely known as the guy with a huge beef with former Longhorn Kevin Durant, has a massive presence on social media, with more than a million followers. During yesterday’s press conference, Cottrell asked Lil B for forgiveness.
@LILBTHEBASEDGOD idk what we did wrong but please forgive the Longhorns for any wrong doings all mighty based god

AND HE ACTUALLY RESPONDED.
@brycecottrell27 love you and Longhorns – Lil B

Cottrell celebrated the way any fan would, with emoji.
@LILBTHEBASEDGOD thank you 🙌🏽👏🏽

So why does this matter? Durant tweeted some harsh words about the rapper in 2011, writing “I tried to listen to Lil B and my mind wouldn’t let me do it….can’t believe this guy is relevant”.
I tried to listen to Lil B and my mind wouldn't let me do it….can't believe this guy is relevant

Later that year, Lil B issued the “The Based Gods Curse” on the Thunder player, with which he declared Durant would never win a NBA championship. As ridiculous as it may sound, this has remained true.
KEVIN DURANT WILL NEVER WIN THE TITLE AFTER HE SAID "LIL B" IS A WACK RAPPER,
"THE BASEDGODS CURSE"#THEBASEDGODSCURSE ON DURANT – Lil B

And if that isn’t enough proof of Lil B’s power, then consider this. In what might be construed as high-level trolling, the rapper lifted the “curse” from Durant during Game 5 of the NBA Finals in 2012, with the Thunder down 3 games to 1. The team later lost against the Miami Heat. In 2014, Lil B released an expletive-laden diss track to Durant and just a few weeks later, the star player was ruled out for the season. Coincidence??? Probably.
Following the blowout game against TCU and with Texas facing the No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday at the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas, the Longhorns may want to have Lil B on their side. Cottrell later proposed a hangout session with the rapper and while there wasn’t a response, Lil B did retweet him.
@LILBTHEBASEDGOD but hey bro hit me up if you want to play some madden or something

While Lil B has never tweeted or said the Longhorns football team was cursed, this proclamation of love should be a good sign of things to come.
