Posted May 3rd, 2016

Where it went right: The sixth inning. Michael Cantu singled to lead-off the inning, then moved to second on a Kody Clemens sac-bunt. Travis Jones then walked. Cantu scored when Kody Clemens hit a chopper to first baseman Angel Avalos that snaked past Avalos to give the Longhorns a 1-0 lead. The Horns then went up 2-0 when Jones scored on a throwing error by Josh Jefferson. It also helps that you don’t allow a run.

The starter: Connor Mayes pitched four fantastic innings. He allowed one hit and one walk, he struck out five and didn’t allow a run. Also, 34 of his 48 pitches were strikes.

Top hitter: Kacy Clemens, 2-4, 2b, 2RBI.

Key Stat: Prarie View had six errors on the day, two led to Texas runs.

Next game: 5:30 p.m. Friday at West Virginia.
