The Texas softball team hit five home runs in a 14-3 rout of Iowa State on Saturday in Ames, Iowa.
The victory moved Texas (36-14) to 9-7 in conference play and dropped Iowa State (20-31) to 1-13. The Longhorns have outscored the Cyclones 29-5 over the past two games.
UT’s Lindsey Stephens went 2 for 4 with two home runs and drove in four runs.
Longhorns Celina Felix and Holly Kern homered for the second straight game, hitting back-to-back homers during Texas’ four-run rally in the first inning. Kern went 3 for 3 and knocked in four runs.
Iowa State’s Savannah Sanders lasted just two-thirds of an inning and gave up four runs on four hits. Texas had 14 hits and scored 10 runs off the Iowa State bullpen.
Stephens pushed the lead to six when she hit a two-run homer in the second and put Texas up 8-0 with a two-run homer in the third.
Paige von Sprecken improved to 11-3 and allowed three earned runs on five hits with four walks through five innings. She also hit a two-run homer as Texas rallied for five runs in the fourth. Kern started the rally with a three-run double, and von Sprecken pushed the lead to 13-3 with a homer to left.
