Breaunna Addison eliminated in quarterfinals at NCAA Championships

Texas senior Breaunna Addison fell 6-2, 6-4 to Miami’s Sinead Lohan in the singles quarterfinals at the NCAA Championships on Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Eighth-ranked Lohan will face top-seed Hayley Carter of North Carolina in the Final Four on Sunday. Addison upset three-seed Francesca Di Lorenzo 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2 on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals. 

Lohan won four straight points to take the first set 6-2 and held serve at 4-4 in the second set to take a 5-4 edge. Addison fought off a match point, but the next game she sent a forehand shot that went long and Lohan took the set 6-4.

Addison finished her senior season at 37-4 in singles play and her .902 winning percentage was the second best winning percentage in program history.  Addison, a two-time Big 12 player of the year recipient and three-time All-America selection, had 109 career singles victories.
