Morolake Akinosun, Courtney Okolo, Chrisann Gordon earn spots on Olympic teams

Morolake Akinosun and Courtney Okolo were added to the U.S. Olympic team and Chrisann Gordon was selected to be part of the Jamaican Olympic team on Monday.

USA Track & Field chose Akinosun to join the relay pool for the 4×100 meter relay after her fourth place showing in the 100 meter final. She will be one of six runners eligible to run in any of the rounds of 4×100 competition.

Okolo will be in the rely pool for the 4×400 meter relay after placing sixth in the 400 meter final. Okolo was part of Team USA’s victory in the 4×400 meter relay at the IAAF World Indoor Championships last March.

Gordon made her first Jamaican Olympic team and will be in the relay pool for the 4×400 meter relay.

With Akinosun, Gordon and Okolo being added to their Olympic rosters, nine former or current Longhorns will be competing in Rio.
