The third-ranked Texas volleyball team closed play at the American Campus Classic tournament with a sweep of Miami 25-17, 25-19, 25-10 Saturday at Gregory Gym.
The Longhorns (5-1) won their last three matches at the event without losing a single set and have only lost one set in their last four.
Texas out-hit the Hurricanes (3-3) .494 to .152 and had five players hit above .400.
Freshman Micaya White led Texas with 14 kills, had no attack errors, and notched a season-high .583 hitting percentage. Ebony Nwanebu had 12 kills with three digs and Morgan Johnson had a team-high five blocks with seven kills on nine attacks. Chloe Collins steered the offense with 37 assists and helped out on defense with eight digs and four blocks.
Olga Strantzali had a team-high 12 kills for the Hurricanes.
Texas broke a 6-6 tie in the first set with a 7-1 run and maintained at least a four-point advantage the rest of the set. The Longhorns hit .621 in the first set.
The Hurricanes rallied in the middle of the second set with four straight points to cut the lead to one at 17-16. A block by Collins and Johnson and a kill by Paulina Prieto Cerame gave Texas the momentum back and White knocked down a kill to take the set 25-19. Cerame had 11 kills and two blocks.
Texas opened the third set on a 9-2 run and held a commanding lead the rest of the way, taking the set 25-10.
