Longhorns ranked 6th by one national AP voter

Posted September 6th, 2016

The Longhorns are back. And the country is taking notice.

After Texas’s 50-47 double-overtime win on Sunday versus a top-10 ranked Notre Dame squad, the Longhorns are sure to land in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll. But how high will the Bevos be?

According to one national writer, they are top-10 worthy. ESPN’s Brett McMurphy tweeted his top 25 Tuesday morning, and he places the Longhorns at No. 6.

The overall poll will be released at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The Longhorns were not ranked in the preseason poll last week, but did garner 12 points from five reporters. McMurphy was one of those voters, slotting the Horns at No. 25.

Editor’s note: The original version of this story has been edited to correct the day the AP poll comes out.
