The Texas women’s golf team moved into a tie for first place with host Furman after shooting a 4-under-par 284 in the second round of the Lady Paladin Saturday in Greenville, South Carolina.
UT’s Sophia Schubert shot a 3-under 69 and Texas freshmen Greta Volker and Dominique Galloway shot 1 under par to help the Longhorns get to 9 under. Schubert moved into a tie for fourth place at 3 under par and Volker and Galloway are tied for 30th at 2 over.
UT’s Julia Beck carded a 1-over 73 in the second round and is tied for 14th place at even par. Texas’ 284 was the second best round shot Saturday, Augusta University set a tournament record with a 278.
Texas freshman Emilee Hoffman followed an opening round 65 with a 3-over 75 and slipped to a tie for second place at 4 under. Hoffman is a stroke behind Furman’s Alice Chen and is tied with Illinois’ Bing Singhsumalee. Chen carded a 3-under 69 as the Paladins shot a 286.
