The second-ranked Longhorns defeated last-place Texas Tech in five sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 26-28, 15-7) to remain undefeated in Big 12 play Friday night in Lubbock.
Paulina Prieto Cerame had a career-high 24 kills to lead the Longhorns to their third five-set victory this season. The senior had a hit percentage of .365 while adding six blocks and six digs.
Ebony Nwanebu and Micaya White each added 16 kills for the Longhorns (16-2, 8-0). Nwanebu hit .395 while making five digs to go along with an ace. White contributed five blocks and nine digs.
Chloe Collins registered her sixth match with at least 50 assists as she set up 61 points for the Longhorns. Her 12 digs gave her a seventh double-double for the season.
Yaazie Bedart-Ghani had a team-high nine blocks while Cat McCoy led the team with 20 digs.
The Red Raiders (10-13) dropped to 0-8 in conference play and have lost 31 straight matches to Texas. Sarah Redding led the Red Raiders with 17 kills and hit .275. Lauren Douglas added 14 kills while hitting .344 and Toni McDougald had 13 kills.
Texas Tech started the match on a 7-3 run and held the lead the rest of the set. Tech out-hit Texas .343 to .229 in the first set.
Prieto Cerame hit back-to-back kills to give Texas an 11-5 lead in the second set and the Longhorns held at least a four-point edge the rest of the way. Texas hit .739 in the third set on their way to a 25-16 victory.
The Longhorns survived two set points in the fourth set, but a kill by McDougald and an attack error by Prieto Cerame pushed the match into a fifth set.
Texas scored three straight points to start the fifth set and built a 9-3 lead. A kill by White set up match point and a error by the Red Raiders gave Texas the set and match,
