Texas men’s cross country team qualifies for NCAA Championship

Texas advanced to the NCAA Championships with a second place finish at the NCAA South Central Cross Country Regional Championship Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Texas senior Nate Moore kept up with the lead pack the entire 10,000 meters and finished in fourth place at 30 minutes 13.8 seconds. Tulane’s Emmanuel Rotich posted the top time at 29:58.9. UT’s Robert Urh placed 10th and Texas’ Alex Rogers notched a 12th place finish.

The Longhorns scored 81 points to advance to the championship meet and have made the finals for eight straight seasons. Arkansas won the regional with 41 points.

The Texas women’s team missed out on qualifying after placing fourth. The Texas women were led by Sandie Raines, who finished 12th in the women’s 6K at 20 minutes 51.2 seconds.
