Bohls: Alabama ol’ reliable; OU has work to do

Posted November 27th, 2016

Except for the one week a month ago when seven Top 25 teams fell on the same day, the top 10 has been very stable this season. Of course, we can always count on Alabama robbing all the suspense and being on top.

Just seems like there’s this large chasm between the Crimson Tide and, well, everyone else.

Ohio State remained in my No. 2 position on my Associated Press Top 25 ballot, but with some misgivings since my No. 3 team, Penn State, beat the Buckeyes. The Nittany Lions do have two losses, however.

Oklahoma continues to rise and sits at No. 6 on my ballot. In truth, when it comes to the College Football Playoff, the Sooners just can’t get there, even if they win the Big 12 this weekend when they face Oklahoma State. All about that 13th data point, but OU needs a lot of help, namely losses by Washington and Clemson in the Pac-12 and ACC title games.

Louisville has been in a free fall, dropping its last two games to Houston and Kentucky. I put them at No. 17.

Here’s my ballot:

  1. Alabama
  2. Ohio State
  3. Penn State
  4. Wisconsin
  5. Washington
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Clemson
  8. USC
  9. Michigan
  10. Colorado
  11. Western Michigan
  12. Oklahoma State
  13. Florida State
  14. Pittsburgh
  15. West Virginia
  16. Iowa
  17. Louisville
  18. Virginia Tech
  19. Stanford
  20. Air Force
  21. Boise State
  22. Florida
  23. South Florida
  24. Navy
  25. Auburn
