San Jose State has reportedly hired Andrew Sowder to be the next offensive coordinator for the Spartans. Sowder was a quality control coach who worked with receivers at Texas in 2016, and he has previously worked at Bowling Green, Eastern Illinois and West Texas A&M. Sowder also played and was a student coach at Baylor.

Sowder will work for Brent Brennan, who took over San Jose State’s football program this past December. The Spartans went 4-8 in 2016, and the offense averaged 24.4 points per game. That scoring offense ranks 103rd among FBS teams.

Even though he is moving to California, Sowder won’t be away from Austin for very long. San Jose State will travel to Texas on Sept. 9.
