Meet the new Longhorns: Former TE Samuel Cosmi has ‘high upside’ as a college lineman

Posted February 1st, 2017

Samuel Cosmi, OT, Humble Atascocita

FYI: 6-5/260; the No. 104-ranked offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 148-ranked player in Texas.

Update: Texas wanted a second offensive lineman to add to this class, so the coaching staff targeted a familiar name. Cosmi was committed to Houston up until Monday, just two days before signing day. The three-star prospect didn’t even receive a Texas offer until last week. He quickly took an official visit to Austin and flipped his commitment. Cosmi is a project prospect at tackle; he needs a year or two in the weight room before he’s ready to compete against college defensive linemen. If he can maintain his athleticism while adding 20 to 30 pounds, Cosmi becomes a gem down the road.
