Seanna Johnson scored 22 points and Bridget Carleton 18 to lead Iowa State to a 70-66 victory over Texas Friday night at the Erwin Center.
Texas is 21-7, 14-3 in the Big 12. Iowa State is 17-11, 8-9.
Before the game, the team honored its seniors, Kelsey Lang and Brianna Taylor, who played in their last regular-season game.
Taylor led the team in scoring with 12 points. Lang led with 7 rebounds.
Iowa State sizzled early, shooting 64 percent from the floor (9 of 14) to earn a 22-19 lead at halftime. The Cyclones kept up the pressure in the second quarter and led 37-33 at the half.
Texas suffered blow early when lead scorer Brooke McCarty picked up her third personal foul in the second quarter. She had only 2 points at halftime.
Iowa State extended its streak to 701 games with at least one three-pointer. The Cyclones wasted little time as Seanna Johnson connected behind the arc halfway through the first quarter.
Texas will play the final game of the regular season Monday night at Kansas State. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
The Big 12 Tournament begins Friday, March 3 and will continue through March 6 in Oklahoma City.
