Texas moves up to No. 6 in latest AP women’s basketball poll

The Longhorns will play at No. 3 Baylor on Thursday

Apparently, a four-point loss to top-ranked UConn and a 51-point victory over Texas Tech  impressed the Associated Press voters last week.

The Longhorns, ranked ninth last week, has risen to No. 6 in the
AP women’s basketball poll released on Monday.

That sets the stage for the first Big 12 showdown of the young season when Texas faces No. 3 Baylor Thursday night in Waco.

Last week Texas suffered a 75-71 home loss to UConn but rebounded to beat Texas Tech 90-39 Saturday in Lubbock.

Other Big 12 teams cracking the Top 25 are No. 19 Oklahoma State (14-4), No. 20 West Virginia (16-4) and No. 24 TCU (13-5).
