For all the glitz and glamour, it’s worth remembering that for recruits, national signing day is the culmination of years of hard work.
Signee Joseph Ossai — a 4-star defensive end from Oak Ridge — made his signing day announcement with a video he posted on Twitter.
The video begins with text: “Joseph Ossai; 2006; When the dream was just a dream.” We see a young boy running sprints with the encouraging voice of a woman (presumably Ossai’s mother) urging him on. Throughout the video, the boy transforms into Ossai, at his current age, running the same drill with the same voice in the background.
It finishes with Ossai wearing a burnt orange “Hook’Em” T-shirt with family and friends behind him, also dressed in burnt orange. It’s a great reminder that to recruits, signing day means more than just putting pen to paper.
