Texas women’s basketball head coach Karen Aston is among 10 semifinalists for the 2018 Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Wednesday morning.
Last season, Aston was one of four coaches nationally to be named a finalist for the Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year accolade. She also was named the 2017 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year.
Aston has led the Longhorns to a 22-5 overall record and a 13-3 mark in Big 12 Conference play during the 2017-18 season. Texas is ranked No. 6 in the nation and has recorded five wins this season against Associated Press Top-25 teams.
Aston has compiled a 136-60 (.694) record in her sixth season on the Forty Acres and is the second-winningest coach in University of Texas history. In her 11th season as a collegiate head coach, Aston is 237-123 (.658).
