The top-rated cornerback on Texas’ 2019 recruiting board is set to pick a school on June 20. Derek Stingley, a five-star cornerback prospect from Louisiana, announced on Twitter that his top three schools are Florida, Texas and LSU. The Tigers are the favorite because LSU rarely loses high-profile prospects from inside its own state.
Stingley, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect, is the No. 1-rated cornerback in the nation and the No. 17-ranekd overall prospect in the 2019 class, per 247Sports Composite. He earned a trip to The Opening Finals in Frisco with an outstanding effort at The Opening regional in Dallas. He took an official visit to Texas on May 4 and recorded 11 interceptions as a junior.
Stingley will announce his decision at 1:30 p.m. on June 20 and plans to sign and enroll at the college of his choice in December. Texas’ lone cornerback commit in the 2019 class is Kenyatta Watson II.
